Twelve Cupcakes

Saw the Twelve Cupcakes store on my way home from Bugis and decided to try it out. They're $3 each and the boxes cost me another $0.50 which I wish they told me about before I went to make my payment at the cashier.

But they were pretty damn good! Kinda small for $3 but definitely worth indulging in once in a while :)

Aloha Ma Maison

Serving food from this little place called Hawaii, don't know if you heard of it... In case you didn't know, here's some info for you to read while waiting.

Ordered the loco moco set lunch ($15) to try. Loco moco is a native Hawaiian dish, I've never tried it but have seen the pictures on the internet, it looks like a Hawaiian version of nasi lemak or something. The dish is typically rice served with sunny side up egg and a hamburger patty, drenched in a brown sauce. The restaurant offers some variations of it as well, like salmon and I forget what else since I was mainly trying to decide between the salmon and the beef lol.

It was nice that they offered the option of either having white rice or multi-grain rice. But otherwise the dish was nothing special. Sauce didn't really have much flavour to it and the hamburger patty was also kinda bland. Don't really recommend this item.

We also tried the escargot with coconut garlic butter ($10) cos it sounded interesting. It was well... interesting. I'm not in love with it but it was worth a try, had a pretty strong coconut taste, kinda drowned out the garlic.

Toppings: maple syrup, coconut and guava.

And finally, for dessert, we had the pancakes with whipped cream and banana ($14). It was the whole reason why I wanted to give this place a try and it did not disappoint. When I saw the picture in the menu, it reminded me of the pancakes that I tried back at Eggs N Things (also a Hawaiian eatery) in Japan.

For comparison:

Well, obviously the one served at Aloha Ma Maison had less whipped cream, when it came over to our table, it was already on the verge of falling over. But no matter, cos you don't really need that much anyway. It's just more aesthetically pleasing.

It had five small-ish pancakes, topped with whipped cream, bananas and powdered sugar. They had 3 different syrups for you to choose from and the coconut one was the best imo. Drenched each one with the syrup and a dollop of the fluffy whipped cream, YUM! Instant bliss, almost went into a diabetic coma.

Would definitely return for the pancakes.

Also, I would like to congratulate Bugis+, formally known as Iluma, for it's super successful makeover. The place was packed when I went over, a complete 180 from what it used to be. Shows you how important it is to get the right anchor tenants.

Samantha Thavasa Gingham Aimi Purse

I've been coveting this purse for ages, unable to afford it since I'm currently unemployed (sigh). I kept waiting for it to go on sale, circling the bag like a vulture in the desert, waiting for that damn fox to finally keel over and die. Well, it never did. But luckily my mum got it for me for my birthday!

I love it so much, the little rhinestones on the detachable ribbons is so much more blingy than I thought it would be. Despite looking pretty small, I can stuff all the things I need for class in it! But it feels kinda heavy even when I don't put a lot of stuff inside, but whatever, it's so adorable!! I'm going to get another from this series, once I, you know, get a job...

Other birthday stuff:

Had lunch at Cedele's, they had a promo pasta set for $21 (any pasta + soup + coffee/tea) and then dessert at Cold Stone. Oh man, I'm becoming addicted to Cold Stone and getting fatter all the time. But it's so good... so far my favourite one so far is the one with chocolate and peanut butter. I can't believe I've never tried chocolate and peanut butter together till now. I'm seriously considering buying some chocolate ice cream and mix some peanut butter in to try at home.

Making a Photo Collage in Photoshop

Making collages on the iPhone was pretty fun so I wanted to try doing one with the pictures in my computer. I googled 'How to make photo collages in photoshop' and came across this, supposedly a simple how-to for making one.

I'm just like:

Time for that, no one has it.

Luckily, I thought to google 'Photoshop template for collages' and came across this great link: Storyboard Templates - from Ginger Pixel, and ta-dah...

Made an awesome collage of pictures of my fur child since he's turning 4 in like 2 weeks. The middle picture is from when I first saw him at the pet shop, he's grown so much since then. I remember when he first came to our house, he was so scared and kept hiding in the crate we got him and didn't want to come out. I slept in the living room to keep him company the first night so I could let him out of the crate like every 4 hours to pee. Right after I let him out to pee the first time, he didn't want to go back in the crate and was running around trying to get me to play with him. When I laid down to sleep he curled up right beside me, so precious right? :'D

Random photo dump

I was bored out of my mind while waiting for class to start so I randomly downloaded some photo apps from the App Store to try. Here are the results:

Apps used:
  • Instagram
  • Labelbox
  • Rakuga-cute
  • 美图秀秀

In other news that no one cares about, I've finished watching a few of the shows I wanted to see - Girls (Loved it! I know it's not like SATC, but I can see why people would compare it to that.), Season 1 of Happy Endings (How have I not watched this before, one of the rare shows where I actually like all the characters...) and Teen Wolf.

I didn't expect to like Teen Wolf as much as I did lol. I mean, with a title like that, and what with it being shown on MTV and all, I thought it would be a super lame, Twilight-esque show but I was wrong. Some bad-acting aside, the plot is actually pretty interesting and it has some well-written characters. Honestly, this show should be on HBO so we can have more ass.

Now if this was a HBO show...
