Tea @ Sushi Tei

Had the day off on Monday so went over to Takashimaya's Sushi Tei to try their tea set since it's only available from Mon-Fri 2pm - 5pm. We didn't have lunch before going so we ordered some other stuff as well.

Soft shell crab roll with pork floss on the side. Tasted ok, might have been better if it was at least warm.
Curry Katsu Don. The pork was a bit tough.

And now for the tea set....

I ordered the milk tea and it came with the milk and syrup for you to mix to your own liking. I suck at the kind of thing so my drink ended up tasted like milk + syrup + water
The sweets! We ordered 2 different sets but like every other thing was sold out so we ended up having the exact same items -_-"
Honestly, the mochi was the only good part of the meal. Everything else was not very good. In fact, I thought it was slightly below average. At $10.80++ for the tea set, they could have given a better choice of drink like matcha latte instead of this cheap tea.

I can't justify paying about $25 each for this standard of food so I don't think I'll be back for tea at Sushi Tei anytime soon.

Ladurée Tea Salon @ Champs Elysées

One cold May evening, after spending the whole day roaming around Paris, we decided to rest our tired feet and fill our growling tummies in the famous Ladurée.

In the restaurant:

nice lamp

i love french bread!
Hot chocolate! Just the right thing for the weather. It was super rich so I couldn't finish the extra piece of chocolate so I stashed it in my purse. I forgot all about it till it fell out of my purse a week after I returned to SG. Miraculously, it didn't melt! That's some good chocolate...

my omelette ladurée. it was good, but not spectacular.
sandwiches for rachel.
I didn't get a photo of my mum's dinner, she was too hungry and dug in before I could take a photo -_-"
I did get a picture of dessert, though!

Almost too beautiful to eat. Almost. It tastes even better than it looks. The rose flavor was strong but not overpowering. Too bad we didn't have room in our tummies to try out more of the desserts.

The ispahan wowed us so much, we decided to go back and try more the next day. But this time we didn't dine in the restaurant, we brought the goodies over to Starbucks opposite (blasphemy, I know).

the famous macarons!!

Saint-Honoré Rose-Framboise aka HEAVEN! Seriously, the cream is so light and the pastry had just the right texture. Everything about this is perfect!
I'd definitely recommend visiting when you're in Paris, just maybe not for dinner. Next time I'm in Paris, I'll be sure to go there for afternoon tea :)

TWG Tea Salon @ ION

There were 2 of us and we shared a Celebration Tea Set and a 1837 Tea Set.

Tea Sets (3pm - 6pm)

Celebration Tea Set ($29)
Tea
Choice of 3 macarons
Choice of 2 scones/muffins or pâtisserie from trolley
Choice of 3 finger sandwiches

1837 Tea Set ($17)
Tea
Choice of 2 scones/muffins or pâtisserie from trolley

The place is quite small and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to get a table on a Sunday afternoon. It's quite understandable actually. If you had to pay that amount for a tea set, you'd hardly be rushing through your meal.

Service: From reading some reviews online, I expected to be snubbed or something. But the service was great. Staff were efficient and the recommendations on what to order were excellent as well.

Food: Foie gra and smoked salmon sandwiches were delicious but the Roma tomato one was nothing special.

The Singapore Surprise (one of the most popular items according to the staff) was just right. Not too sweet. I'll definitely order it again if I go back.

The scones were slightly warm when served and came with cream and tea jelly (good enough to eat on its own).

Macarons were good. One of the better ones I had in Singapore. The Rose one do with a stronger rose flavor. My favorite is the Grand Wedding (passion fruit & coconut).

The tea (we ordered Grand Wedding & Timeless Tea) complimented to desserts perfectly and was a perfect cap to the lovely meal.

Northumberland Kings Cross Hotel

picture taken just outside of the hotel.

interior. please ignore the crazy person in the center.

The hotel is directly opposite London’s largest tube station, King's Cross St. Pancras, which is on the Northern, Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, Victoria and Piccadilly lines of the London Underground network. Once you arrive at King's Cross St. Pancras Tube station, exit onto Euston Road. Cross over this busy road and you will find Northumberland King’s Cross Hotel directly in front of you, at numbers 9-11.

And if you're a Harry Potter geek like me, Platform 9 and 3/4 can be found there.

London St Pancras is also just opposite, so if you're taking the Eurostar to visit other parts of Europe, the hotel is perfect for you.

For the location, the price can't be beat!

The only bad thing is they don't have any rooms with private bathrooms, otherwise it'd be perfect. The rooms are a little bare, but for the price, I'm not complaining.

There's a McDonalds just across the street, I had a few breakfasts and late suppers there heh heh.
